REVIEW
"A bedazzling concoction of third-world rhythms, laid-back beats and green
sentiments, this is about as far away as you can get from the howling
nihilism of the Sex Pistols - the near-mythical punk band who made
Goodman's name, and vice versa. Goodman was then an apprentice producer
who learned his craft by mixing the unlovable spike-tops live and in the
studio. In the future lay Lena Zavaroni, The Mobiles, Rainbow 2000...and
New Age Radio. The latter crew are essentially Goodman plus former cabaret
star Kathy Manuell and various 'head' friends who created numerous radio
shows for FM stations in Japan. Goodman shows his cutting experience here
by making the last two tracks among the loudest I've ever clocked on a
compact disc. 'Eastern Dreaming' is, perhaps, the strongest thing on
Survival Show with its tuner-scanning intro that mirrors the diversity to
come, and 'Open Ended Spiralling Loops' the druggiest. Like 'A
Canterbury Tale' meets Prefab Sprout on the solar powered stage at
Glastonbury. Soak it up - a real trip." 9/10
